    About

Over the course of four or so years, Toledo's own False Face Society has perfected a straight-forward live show
with rarely a gimmick or a hair flip. In fact, the best term anyone's come up with so far to describe Toledo's FFS is
"heavy mental." They're all cathartic, soul-affirming power and none of the clich├ęd cynicism of rock and roll.
Steeped in a primal love and respect for the Earth and reflective of Native American philosophy, the band's work
casts a suspicious eye toward the the "civilized" onslaught of Christian Europeans and the desecration of a planet
that's raged for over 500 years. It's not a stance to be taken lightly, or packaged for mass consumption -- it simply
is, and it rings true through every throbbing note.

Though hundreds of demo tapes had circulated by late 1994, it wasn't until spring 1995 that F.F.S. was captured on
a "professionally packaged" recording. The F.F.S. track, "M*A*S*H Potatoes," featuring their good friend Kevin
Tufts (of Porn Flakes fame) on drums, appeared on Sin Klub's Exposed II compilation, while October 1995 brought
Intensity Coach, a six song cassette that made a big regional buzz even bigger. Finally, fall 1996 brought listeners
the long-awaited ten-song CD Game Face On, a musical map of the band's journeys through the last two years.

The surging, inexorable force of their live shows has earned them a legion of respectful and loyal fans throughout
Ohio, and garnered them support slots with acts as diverse as Helmet, Kyuss, Sugar Ray, Lordz Of Brooklyn,
Stompbox, Wickerman, Glazed Baby, Type O Negative, Mule, Vince Neil and Speedball. The band even inked
an endorsement deal with Miller Genuine Draft in our neck of the woods.
